It’s okay to build on other people’s platforms starting out. It’s like being the show opener band for a much larger headliner band. Eventually, you want to become the headliner.
I have put a lot of content on Medium and build a few followers on social media but I always lead them to email lists, my podcast, or some other property that I own and have full control over.
YouTube, Medium, Facebook, all of these guys can ban you and shut you down in the snap of a finger. You need to push people to your own brand and communities.
ACTION STEPS – Consider how your customers, fans, and followers are interacting with you. Do you own that medium?
